Make the most of your toast
We never really had a slogan until our friend, Ines, suggested the above saying. We love it - it’s kinda catchy, simple and classic - just like peanut butter on toast.
Toast is where it starts. It is the blank canvas, the fundamental brekkie building block … add a healthy spread of PB and the chemistry is undeniable. It got us thinking more and more about the role of toast at F&F until eventually the idea of doing something toast-related at our Eva Street window took hold.
From today, we’re excited to say that we’re now serving up peanut butter on toast with lots of different toppings for $6 from 8am to 2pm, Tuesday to Saturday … and our old favourite Fruit Toast is making a comeback.
Now for those of you that have visited the window recently, you’ll have noticed a couple of new faces. If you haven’t met Abe yet, he’s a born and bred Wellingtonian who has recently returned from cycling around Eastern Europe to tour with his post-punk band Mermaidens. Alba is also in the mix - making amazing pickles for our ‘Smoke & Pickle’ toast. Abe and Alba have been a driving force behind our toast concept over the last few weeks, helping to refine the design and finalise the tastiest toast combinations.
Toast at Eva Street is for those that find mornings hard work, the breakfast-skippers, and those (like us) that are just really passionate about peanut butter on toast. We want this space to be functional, with satisfying toppings that utilise ingredients from some of our favourite local businesses.
We’re really excited to be teaming up with Leeds Street Bakery for our bread - we’ll be using their wholesome organic 30% rye loaf - and also with a bunch of other businesses like Blue Frog. We have a Moccamaster brewing tasty filter coffee from our mates at Coffee Supreme. And for those of you with a little more time to kill, we’ve kitted the window out with a rimu bar-leaner and we think the whole thing looks pretty darn nice.
We’d love to see you there - stop by and we’ll make the most of your toast!
