We’re so excited to tell you that we’ve just launched our PB in the home of peanut butter - the United States of America! This has been a dream of ours for a long time and we're now live on Amazon! 🇺🇸
It hasn’t come easy – we’ve spent the last 10 months getting ourselves ready for this big leap. Our custom-made, recyclable cardboard F&F canisters have finally arrived at the factory and they’re beautiful. These slick little cylinders were inspired by the packaging used for whiskey bottles (a peanut butter first?), and will let us post individual glass jars safely across the States without the risk of breakages.
They also remove the need for excess packaging like bubble wrap - and we can't wait to see how people decide to reuse them with pens and pencils, plant seedlings, nuts and bolts, ground coffee, spare change ... the list goes on!
PB 101: A brief history
It’s no secret that peanut butter is a big deal in the US. The process of grinding peanuts into a paste was first invented in the 1890s by American John Harvey Kellogg (who also co-invented breakfast cereal with his brother FYI). Commercial production kicked off 30 years later, but it only found a foothold in the American market during WWII, when Americans had to seek protein alternatives due to the scarcity of meat.
History lesson over, peanut butter’s popularity has only grown with time. Today, the US and Canada are the biggest consumers of peanut butter per capita in the world… and by the age of 18, the average US child will have eaten approximately 1,500 peanut butter sandwiches.
The Big Leagues
We think there’s a spot for our handmade peanut butter in this huge and competitive industry. There’s a lot of PB out there but nothing quite like Fix & Fogg. Every summer at our window on Eva Street we hand out samples of our peanut butter to American tourists and the feedback has always been overwhelmingly positive, so we’re taking the plunge and going for it!
But now we need your help to 'spread' the word. If you have any friends in the US who you think would like to try our peanut butter please send them this link:
… and if they enter the code ‘FIXNFOGG’, they’ll receive a 10% discount on their order.
Thank you for supporting our peanut butter company - seriously, thank you for being part of the Fix & Fogg family. We couldn’t do it without you.
